RASC News Agency: Several Afghanistani citizens detained during the chaos of protests organized by the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) party have alleged that they were lured into participating in the demonstrations. According to the Express Tribune, Khayal Gul, one of those detained, claimed that the PTI offered him 2,000 rupees daily to join the protests and engage in acts of vandalism.
Expressing regret, he stated, “The PTI leaders fled, and we were arrested by the police.” He further remarked that the PTI promised financial compensation and additional necessary assistance if they joined the protests. Mulla Dad, another detainee, revealed that he and two friends traveled from Peshawar to participate in the PTI demonstrations. He claimed they were encouraged to commit acts of sabotage.
He said, “We urge our Afghanistani brothers not to engage in any violence or damage to property.” Abdul Rahman, another detainee, mentioned that he works hard to support his children and could not ignore the PTI’s call for disruption. He emphasized, “They wanted us to create chaos in Islamabad and damage state property.” As reported by the Express Tribune, authorities are intensifying legal actions against all individuals involved in the protests.
The report notes that in anticipation of a planned PTI protest at D-Chowk in Islamabad, the police took decisive measures to prevent any disturbances. According to this media outlet, Islamabad police have arrested 412 individuals, including 60 Afghanistani citizens. Supporters of Imran Khan, the former Prime Minister of Pakistan currently imprisoned, have recently staged widespread protests in Islamabad and Rawalpindi.
These demonstrations were called for by Imran Khan, with protesters demanding his release from prison.
