346 Afghanistani Families Deported from Iran and Pakistan

RASC News Agency: The Taliban-controlled Bakhtar News Agency has reported that 346 Afghanistani migrant families were forcibly and voluntarily deported from Iran and Pakistan on Monday, October 9. These families reportedly re-entered Afghanistan through border crossings in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Nimroz, and Herat provinces. The report detailed that 17 families crossed through the Torkham border, while 25 families returned via Spin Boldak. Additionally, 106 families entered the country through the Islam Qala border, with another 198 crossing via the Silk Bridge.

These developments come amidst findings that underscore systemic injustices, discrimination, unemployment, poverty, and severe economic conditions as the principal causes of illegal migration by Afghanistani citizens. In the past three years, more than 10 million Afghanistani citizens have fled their homeland, escaping the Taliban’s oppression and fighting for survival. The Taliban have allocated both public and private sector jobs exclusively to their members and loyalists, effectively barring educated individuals and the youth from employment.

Reports indicate that the sole prerequisite for employment in Taliban-controlled government institutions is allegiance to the group and ideological conformity. This exclusion has resulted in a deep sense of hopelessness among the population, prompting many to leave the country. Despite this, neighboring nations, particularly Iran and Pakistan, are intensifying efforts to forcibly repatriate these refugees back to Afghanistan.
