RASC News Agency: According to internal sources, the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education has initiated the first phase of “revision and development” of curricula in natural sciences, including Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Biology, and Education. On Monday, Bakhtar News Agency reported that the curriculum would be reviewed from a religious and Islamic perspective.
The Taliban have not provided specific details about the intended changes to textbooks in the natural sciences. Abdul Rauf Farahi, the head of the Curriculum Department at the Taliban’s Ministry of Higher Education, stated, “New global experiences and advancements will be incorporated into the curriculum in the light of the teachings of Islam.” Professors from the Faculty of Education, members of the National Curriculum Commission, and professional representatives from relevant departments are expected to work on the curriculum over five working days.
The revision of natural science disciplines comes after the Taliban’s Minister of Higher Education previously claimed that the curricula of over 70 faculties had been reviewed. Reports subsequently emerged indicating that scientific content had been reduced and religious content had been increased within university curricula.
Reliable sources within the Ministry of Higher Education had earlier revealed to the media that the Taliban had reduced the hours allocated to core subjects in various faculties and tripled the hours devoted to Islamic Studies. The Taliban are now the second group, following the Islamic Republic of Iran, attempting to “Islamicize” sciences. Despite Iran’s extensive efforts, it failed to “Islamicize” even the humanities, leading to a growing aversion to Islam among Iranian youth. Now, the primitive Taliban regime seeks to “Islamicize” the natural sciences such as Mathematics, Physics, Geometry, Chemistry, and Biology in Afghanistan.
