RASC News Agency: Local sources in Hesa Awal District, Panjshir Province, have reported that Taliban forces have detained a former military official from the previous government under undisclosed circumstances. The detained individual, identified as Saeed Omar, was formerly a member of the national army under the previous regime.
According to one source, Saeed Omar was apprehended on August 29 in the “Kharo” area of Hesa Awal District. The reasons behind his arrest remain unclear. Sources indicate that since the fall of the Republic, Omar had been unemployed and had no known affiliations with any groups opposing the Taliban. One source, in a message to the media, revealed that community elders are planning to approach the Taliban tomorrow to inquire about Omar’s fate and the rationale behind his detention.
The source further stated that the former military official has been transferred to a prison in Dashtak, Panjshir. It is noteworthy that over the past three years, the Taliban has detained more than forty thousand Tajiks from Panjshir, transferring them to prisons in the southern regions of the country, with no information available regarding their fates. Since seizing control of the nation, the Taliban has filled its prisons in Kabul and southern provinces predominantly with young Tajik men, particularly from Andarab and Panjshir.
Local residents who have witnessed these events report that the Taliban routinely extract guarantees from the families of those arrested, forbidding them from disclosing the incidents to the media.
