RASC News Agency: Ahmad Massoud, the leader of Afghanistan’s National Resistance Front, has asserted that his forces have been forsaken by the international community, compelling them to confront the Taliban in solitude. He underscored that for the past three years, the anti-Taliban front has waged its battle against the Taliban entirely on its own. In a remote address to the Hudson Institute in Washington, Massoud lamented, “We are the only force persevering in the global fight against terrorism in Afghanistan. Regrettably, we have been left to fight alone. We have been abandoned and consigned to oblivion.”
Massoud highlighted that anti-Taliban forces in Afghanistan have been isolated, forced to continue their struggle against the Taliban and other terrorist groups without external aid. According to RASC’s findings, numerous militant and terrorist organizations, including Al-Qaeda, have aligned with the Taliban, occasionally engaging in combat alongside them against resistance forces. In the battles fought in Panjshir, Al-Qaeda has reportedly supported the Taliban in their offensives against the National Resistance Front.
Reports further suggest that Al-Qaeda played a crucial role in assisting the Taliban in their takeover of Panjshir. During the Hudson Institute session, Ahmad Massoud criticized the international community’s engagement with the Taliban, pointing out that countries have interacted with the Taliban unconditionally over the past three years. To date, Pakistan, Iran, Uzbekistan, and China have fostered favorable relations with the Taliban based on their respective geopolitical strategies.
Massoud urged Afghanistani political leaders and parties to unite against the Taliban and work towards establishing an inclusive government in the country. The National Resistance Front remains the largest military opposition to the Taliban, having launched numerous assaults against them over the past three years, resulting in substantial Taliban casualties.
