RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar report that unknown gunmen have shot and killed two individuals in the Chaparhar district of the province. The incident, which occurred in the “Manwi” area of Chaparhar a few days ago, was reported to the media on Thursday, August 22. The sources identified the victims as “Shir Agha” and “Malang,” who were killed while irrigating their fields.
According to these sources, the assailants fled the scene immediately after the attack, and the motive behind the killings remains unclear. Thus far, local Taliban officials in Nangarhar have remained silent on the matter. It is worth noting that criminal activities in Nangarhar have surged recently. Just a week ago, unknown gunmen murdered a tractor driver in the Khogyani district of this province.
These systematic and targeted killings are occurring at a time when the Taliban claims to have established security and peace across the country, denying the presence of any armed groups. However, citizens are left questioning: If no armed groups exist and the country is secure, who is responsible for the murder of innocent Afghanistani civilians? Are the Taliban themselves perpetrating these killings, or is it other terrorist groups operating under their shadow? The harsh reality is that the lives and property of the Afghanistani people are not safe under Taliban rule. Anyone can easily commit murder, and there is no legal institution or competent court in the country to address these atrocities.
