Body of Afghanistani Teen Found in Iran

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Herat province report that the body of a 17-year-old Afghanistani teenager was discovered in a water reservoir in Iran. On Sunday, August 11, sources revealed that the body was found the previous day in Shahreza, Isfahan province, Iran. The deceased, identified as Abdulsalam, was originally from the Farshi district in Herat province. However, details surrounding his death remain sparse, as sources have withheld further information.

It is unclear whether Abdulsalam died by drowning or from other causes. Notably, his body was found fully clothed. This report comes amid a significant increase in the mistreatment of Afghanistani refugees across Iran in recent weeks. In a recent incident, sources reported that an Afghanistani youth was severely beaten by locals in Isfahan province just a day prior. These reports highlight the deteriorating conditions for Afghanistani migrants, as the situation in Afghanistan under Taliban rule grows increasingly dire, especially for non-Pashtun ethnic groups.

The Taliban continue to appoint Pashtun individuals, often unqualified and lacking basic literacy, to government positions, while experienced personnel from other ethnic groups are dismissed. Moreover, many educated young Afghanistanis have fled the country due to the Taliban’s oppressive policies, and those remaining are increasingly seeking to escape the worsening conditions.
