RASC News Agency: Sources in Iran report that a 15-year-old Afghanistani teenager suffered severe injuries and a broken neck due to torture inflicted by an Iranian police officer. According to sources, a plainclothes officer in the village of Absard, Damavand County, restrained Seyyed Mahdi’s hands and feet while another officer applied pressure to his neck with his knee. The sources revealed that the teenager hails from Daikundi province in Afghanistan and is currently hospitalized.
The incident reportedly began during a crackdown on migrants, referred to as “Afghanistani hunting,” in Absard village. Seyyed Mahdi attempted to flee out of fear, prompting security forces to pursue him. Sources stated that the security officers apprehended the hearing-impaired teenager among a group of women on their way to work and subjected him to severe torture. According to the sources, two plainclothes officers and a uniformed officer forced the teenager to the ground next to a police vehicle. The two plainclothes officers pressed their full weight onto the teenager’s body, followed by one of them placing his knee on Seyyed Mahdi’s neck.
As the teenager groaned and screamed in pain, several women tried to intervene, but the officers pushed them away. After a period of excruciating pressure on his neck, Seyyed Mahdi’s cries ceased, and the officers dragged him into the police vehicle. Sources indicated that the police eventually released him, but his neck was broken. He remains hospitalized, but his precise condition is unknown.
In recent weeks, there has been an increase in pressure and violence against migrants by the security forces of the Islamic Republic and some Iranian citizens. Numerous reports have emerged detailing these attacks. Additionally, some Iranian social media users have initiated a campaign fueled by hatred against migrants. This campaign, under the banner “Expel Afghanistanis, a National Demand,” calls for the expulsion of Afghanistani migrants.
