RASC News Agency: The preliminary meeting of the 50th gathering of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) convened on Sunday in Saudi Arabia. During this session, the Secretary-General of the OIC assessed the organization’s efforts and initiatives regarding the situation in Afghanistan.
The meeting addressed various issues pertinent to Afghanistan and deliberated on significant matters. Hussein Ibrahim Taha, the Secretary-General of the OIC, also examined other critical topics, including peace, security, stability, and development in member countries, the defense of the rights of Muslim communities and minorities, and the situation in Jammu and Kashmir.
Taha highlighted that Islamic countries like Afghanistan are grappling with severe difficulties and conflicts, which have inflicted substantial harm. In a statement released by the OIC, no additional details about the meeting were provided. However, the organization has consistently emphasized its support for the rights of Afghanistani women and girls, particularly their rights to education and employment.
Previously, the OIC defended the right of Afghanistani women to education and work, asserting that the education of girls is essential and mandated by Islamic law, and the Taliban should not propagate ignorance. Earlier this year, the Deputy and Special Representative of the OIC Secretary-General for Afghanistan visited the country. In meetings with Taliban officials, he underscored the importance of providing educational opportunities for girls.
The OIC has stated that the Taliban must grant women’s rights to strengthen their relationship with the broader community.
