RASC News Agency: Local sources from Takhar province report that Taliban forces have shot a former soldier in the provincial capital, resulting in a severe head injury. Sources on Friday, August 2, informed the media that the former soldier, named Islamuddin, was targeted by Taliban intelligence officers on Wednesday of the previous week in the Delgirsa area of Taloqan city.

According to the sources, Taliban intelligence forces, riding a motorcycle, attempted to shoot and kill the former soldier. The sources narrate that Islamuddin was attacked while on his way home and is currently receiving medical care at Takhar’s specialized hospital. Based on the information provided, this former soldier had led a normal life since the fall of the previous government and was not involved with any military group.

Local Taliban officials in Takhar have yet to comment on this incident. This attack adds to a series of retaliatory actions by the Taliban against former soldiers over the past three years. In a recent incident, Taliban forces executed another former soldier in Khost province last week, continuing their unaccountable violent reprisals.
