RASC News Agency: The Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture in Kandahar has issued a warning to shopkeepers in the province, instructing them to remove images of humans from their store signs. On Sunday, July 21, sources informed the media that the Taliban had sprayed black paint over human images on shop signs and demanded their removal.
According to the Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture in Kandahar, merchants, shopkeepers, and store owners must remove images of living beings and foreign words from their signs. Sources report that following this directive, employees of the Taliban’s Department of Information and Culture took down some signs depicting men’s faces. Additionally, they sprayed paint over several images of living beings. Since seizing power, the Taliban have imposed numerous restrictions on people’s daily activities and businesses.
Previously, Mullah Shirin, the Taliban governor for Kandahar, stated that publishing images of living beings in newspapers and allowing the group’s officials to engage in visual media interviews were prohibited. Following Mullah Shirin’s directive, all announcements and press releases in Kandahar have been issued without images, relying primarily on audio and written formats.
