RASC News Agency: Sources in Herat report that a young man, recently returned from Iran, has died under Taliban torture. These sources state that the Taliban arrested Hikmatullah Barekzai in Herat a week ago and handed his body over to his family on Friday, July 19. Sources provided a video showing the young man’s body covered in signs of beating and torture.
According to sources, Hikmatullah returned to Afghanistan from Iran two months ago and was married a month ago. Sources claim that Hikmatullah was a laborer, unaffiliated with any political group, and had never held a government position. This incident follows another case last month where the Taliban released a young man from Panjshir in critical condition after arresting him. He too had returned from Iran.
Since the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan, many citizens have fled the country due to extreme unemployment, poverty, and lack of security. However, these refugees have faced arrest and deportation from host countries. Most Afghanistani migrants went to Iran, Pakistan, and, to a lesser extent, Turkey, but all three countries have intensified their deportation efforts, expelling nearly a thousand Afghanistani migrants daily.
Afghanistani migrants, upon being deported, are arrested by the Taliban in Afghanistan, subjected to various accusations, and tortured. Many have died under Taliban torture. The Taliban is a terrorist and ethnocentric group, predominantly targeting Tajiks for arrest, torture, and execution. Human rights organizations have repeatedly warned about the genocide of Tajiks under Taliban rule and their arbitrary killings. However, the Taliban continues its actions unabated.
