RASC News Agency: The U.S. Department of State has expressed concerns, urging the Taliban to ensure that terrorist attacks are not launched from Afghanistan territory. The department emphasized the critical importance of securing assurances on this matter, urging the Taliban to provide such guarantees.
Matthew Miller, the spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, addressed this issue during a press conference on Tuesday, July 16. Miller underscored that preventing the use of Afghanistan soil for terrorist attacks is a priority for the United States in its dealings with the Taliban. He stated that the U.S. seeks to ensure there are no threats emanating from Afghanistan.
Miller’s remarks were in response to Pakistan’s concerns about terrorism, as Pakistan had previously complained about threats originating from Afghanistan. Pakistan views the presence of the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) in Afghanistan as a significant threat. The U.S. State Department spokesperson added, “The people of Pakistan have suffered greatly at the hands of violent extremists and terrorists. We share common interests with the people and government of Pakistan in combating threats to regional security.”
This is why the U.S. has openly expressed its concerns, stating that it is worried about terrorist attacks from Afghan soil. Recently, a UN sanctions team reported that the TTP has established its largest presence in Afghanistan. Previously, Pakistan’s foreign minister had requested the Taliban to expel TTP militants from Afghanistan.
It is worth noting that since the Taliban took control of Afghanistan, the TTP has launched numerous attacks against Pakistan and its military from Afghanistan territory.
