Chinese and Tajik Leaders Advocate for an Inclusive Government in Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: In a joint declaration, the leaders of China and Tajikistan have underscored the imperative of fostering an inclusive government in Afghanistan. Presidents Xi Jinping and Emomali Rahmon articulated their endorsement for a government that represents the diverse spectrum of ethnic, religious, and political communities within Afghanistan. They emphasized that an independent, neutral, and cohesive Afghanistan serves the collective regional interests.

At the Shanghai Cooperation Organization summit in Dushanbe, both leaders reiterated their commitment to a tranquil Afghanistan, void of terrorism, conflict, and narcotics, and capable of fostering harmonious relations with neighboring nations.

Previously, SCO leaders asserted that the formation of an inclusive government stands as the singular path to enduring peace in Afghanistan. They reiterated the critical importance of a government inclusive of representatives from all ethnic and political factions across the nation.

Furthermore, Russian state media reported that SCO leaders endorsed President Rahmon’s proposal for a “security belt” encircling Afghanistan. Russia and Iran have similarly urged the Taliban to establish an inclusive government, although the Taliban assert that their current governance structure already embodies inclusivity and remains an internal affair.
