RASC News Agency: On Wednesday, July 3, Imam Ali Rahman, the President of Tajikistan, stated in a press conference with Shehbaz Sharif, the Prime Minister of Pakistan, that the formation of an inclusive government in Afghanistan is crucial for the country’s stability. Imam Ali Rahman added that he discussed various issues with Shehbaz Sharif, including the fight against terrorism, extremism, drug trafficking, and other matters concerning neighboring countries and the region. Both countries have pledged their commitment to cooperate on these fronts.
In Shehbaz Sharif’s first visit to Tajikistan since his return to power in the February elections, several agreements were signed in various fields, including trade and economy. Both countries harbor fears of terrorist threats and attacks on their soil following the Taliban’s takeover of Afghanistan. Joint military exercises with other countries have been conducted near the Afghanistan border.
Previously, senior Pakistani officials claimed that the TTP (Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan) attacks Pakistan from Afghanistan, an accusation consistently denied by the Taliban, who assert that Pakistan’s internal issues are not their concern. Nevertheless, weekly suicide bombings or attacks on Pakistan’s border areas with Afghanistan are reported, allegedly carried out by the TTP.
It is noteworthy that the Tajik government has repeatedly warned that Afghanistan is becoming a haven for terrorist groups. According to reports, over ten militant and hostile groups reside in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s protection, with some militants even being married off to Taliban members.
