RASC News Agency: Local sources from Herat province report that, amidst a series of mysterious and targeted killings, an unidentified group has recently murdered a man in this region. Sources informed the media on Wednesday, June 26, that unknown assailants brutally killed a man, approximately 35 years old, on Monday in the Shindand district of Herat province, using a cleaver to dismember him.

According to the sources, the assailants stopped the man’s vehicle en route from Herat city to Shindand and then savagely murdered him. The motive and perpetrators of this incident remain unclear, and local Taliban officials in Herat have yet to comment on the matter. It is noteworthy that mysterious and serial killings have surged unprecedentedly in the western regions of the country in recent months.

In a recent case, four days ago, a young man was murdered in the village of Khwaja Mohammad Kamil in the Obe district of Herat province. Since the Taliban’s takeover, the rate of criminal activities, including mysterious and targeted killings, armed robberies, and kidnappings, has significantly increased across various regions.

In many cases, the perpetrators of these mysterious and targeted killings are unknown armed individuals, and these incidents are often not pursued by responsible authorities.
