Woman in Panjshir Dies from Fear as Taliban Stage Midnight Raid on Her Home

RASC News Agency: Mullah Yahya Onabi, a prominent supporter of the Taliban in Panjshir province, has confirmed that a midnight incursion by Taliban members into a residence led to a woman’s fatal cardiac arrest out of sheer terror. Mullah Onabi disclosed this incident in a video released to the media on Saturday, June 16. The footage has since been widely circulated on social media platforms.

In the video, Mullah Onabi criticized the “Taliban informants in Panjshir,” stating, “Whoever guided these Taliban members to this woman’s house, may God bring the same fate upon them.” This occurrence underscores a broader pattern of unaccountable harassment, particularly affecting non-Pashtun communities in the northern regions, perpetuated by the Taliban since their seizure of power.

Recently, Amnesty International leveled accusations against the Taliban forces for perpetrating “brutal assaults” and enforcing “collective punishment” in Panjshir, actions which have amounted to “war crimes.” Amnesty International has meticulously documented the dire circumstances in Panjshir, accusing Taliban forces of gross violations of international humanitarian laws, including extrajudicial executions, torture, arbitrary detention, and mass arrests.

Agnes Callamard, Secretary-General of Amnesty International, remarked that “The Taliban’s cruel tactics, which target individuals under accusations of connections to the National Resistance Front, have inflicted widespread fear and suffering upon the people of Panjshir.” Additionally, a report from the United Nations highlighted that Taliban forces have been detaining adult men and boys from villages in Panjshir, imprisoning them without charges, and subjecting them to severe beatings.
