RASC News Agency: Residents of western Kabul report that the Taliban are demolishing their homes without prior notice to construct a road whose plans have been repeatedly altered. On Thursday, June 6, these residents informed the media that the Taliban have not distributed “expropriation forms,” which would at least partially compensate for the destruction of their buildings.
They allege that bribery and monetary exchanges have led to multiple changes in the road plans, resulting in the demolition of hundreds of homes and buildings in areas such as “20-Meter Road to Omid-e Sabz Township” and “Sang-e Chaal Township.” Residents also noted that the Taliban have ignored vacant land, instead targeting homes that are more than four stories high.
Inhabitants of Sang-e Chaal Township stated that despite holding several meetings with Taliban officials regarding this issue, they were not allowed to speak. One resident remarked, “We have traveled to Kandahar several times to convey the matter to Mullah Haibatullah, but we received no response and had to return.”
Last week, the Taliban’s municipal office in Kabul issued a letter requesting residents from 20-Meter Road to Omid-e Sabz Township to vacate their homes. However, the document lacked the official seal and stamp of the municipality. The Taliban have informed these residents that “the plan is finalized and will not change.” It is worth noting that the Taliban have previously demolished homes in various parts of Kabul and other provinces to widen and rebuild roads.
