RASC News Agency: Reports from Panjshir province indicate that the Taliban have recently resumed public punishments, with two individuals being whipped in the province. Sources informed the media that these individuals were punished on June 4, based on a ruling from the Taliban’s primary court in Panjshir.
According to the sources, the Taliban in Panjshir whipped each of these individuals 20 times in public, accusing them of “illicit relations” and “running away from home.” During nearly three years of their rule over the country, the Taliban have conducted summary trials and publicly whipped dozens of accused individuals across various provinces.
In the most recent instance, the Taliban whipped dozens of men and women on various charges in Sar-e Pol province and called on the public to witness the proceedings. The Taliban’s summary trials and public punishments have sparked widespread reactions, with human rights organizations repeatedly urging the group to cease public punishments.
Despite these appeals, reports from various provinces indicate that the Taliban continue to conduct summary trials of accused individuals, showing no compliance with these demands.
