Taliban Arrest Former Military Officer in Kabul

RASC News Agency: According to credible sources from Kabul Province, Taliban intelligence forces have recently arrested a former military officer of the previous government in the city. Sources reported on Saturday, June 1, that Taliban intelligence forces detained the ex-military officer, named Mohammad Ismail, in early June from the Arya neighborhood of Kabul.

According to the sources, Ismail is originally from Panjshir Province and served as a National Security officer in the previous government. He has been in Taliban custody since his arrest. It remains unclear why the Taliban intelligence forces arrested Mohammad Ismail, and his fate in the group’s prison is also unknown.

Previously, several former military personnel and young men from Panjshir Province have been arbitrarily arrested and imprisoned by Taliban forces on various pretexts. After the Taliban took control of the country, they declared a “general amnesty.” However, during nearly three years of their rule, hundreds of former military personnel have been arrested, imprisoned, tortured, and even killed.

Despite reports of the Taliban’s retaliatory actions against former government employees, the group continues to claim adherence to their leader’s amnesty decree.
