RASC News Agency: Local sources in Faryab Province report that a Taliban member fatally shot a young woman after she refused his marriage proposal. On Saturday, May 25th, local sources informed the media that the young woman was gunned down in Chaghatak village, Almar District, last Thursday by a Taliban member named Zabihullah.

According to sources, the victim, Halima, was killed by her cousin, who is also the bodyguard of Qari Asadullah Haqqani, the financial chief of the Taliban in Almar District. Sources added that Zabihullah had a familial relationship with Halima and had been in a prolonged dispute over marrying her. Reports indicate that the incident occurred because Halima rejected Zabihullah’s marriage proposal.

So far, local Taliban authorities in Faryab have not commented on the incident. Previous reports indicate that women in various provinces, particularly in Faryab, Jawzjan, Samangan, and Sar-e Pol, have been forced into marriages with Taliban members. In another incident on Monday, December 25th of last year, Taliban members in the same district shot and killed a 28-year-old woman in front of her children.

According to sources, the Taliban accused the woman of fleeing her home, conducted a summary trial, and subsequently executed her by firing squad.
