RASC News Agency: Local Taliban authorities in Kunar province have reported that a 19-year-old girl in the province ended her life by shooting herself with a Kalashnikov rifle. Farid Dehqan, spokesperson for the Taliban command in Kunar, stated to the media today, Tuesday, May 14th, that this incident occurred yesterday morning in the village of “Atowi” in the Shigal district.

The Taliban spokesperson added that the girl, identified as Zakiya, committed suicide by firing a Kalashnikov rifle. Dehqan did not provide further information regarding the motive for the girl’s suicide, and her family has not commented on the matter.

Meanwhile, the Taliban also reported the suicide of an 18-year-old boy in the village of Quraish in the Dolat Abad district of Faryab province today.

It is said that with the rise of the Taliban in Afghanistan, factors such as poverty and unemployment, as well as the depression of girls due to their deprivation of access to schools and universities, have led to an increase in suicide rates.
