RASC News Agency: The International Organization for Migration (IOM) has announced that recent floods in Baghlan province have claimed the lives of over 200 individuals. According to a report from Agence France-Presse published on Saturday, May 10th, citing UN officials, flooding in Baghlan-e-Markazi alone destroyed at least 1,500 homes and claimed the lives of over 100 people.
So far, there has been no comprehensive assessment of flood damage over the past 24 hours nationwide by Taliban authorities. Meanwhile, local sources from Baghlan province report that the death toll from floods in two districts of the province has reached 250.
Furthermore, flooding in provinces such as Takhar, Badakhshan, Samangan, Herat, and Ghor has also resulted in heavy casualties and damages for the people. Earlier, Richard Bennett, the UN’s special human rights rapporteur for Afghanistan, called for urgent assistance for flood victims.
