Taliban Arrest Former National Security Officer in Takhar

RASC News Agency: Local sources in Takhar province report that the Taliban have arrested a former national security officer in the region. On Wednesday, May 8, sources informed the media that the Taliban detained Fraidoun, a former national security officer under the previous government, in Takhar province.

 

According to the source, the Taliban arrested Fereydoun in Taloqan four days ago without any formal charges. He is currently being held in a Taliban prison in Taloqan, where he is allegedly subjected to torture. Local Taliban officials in Takhar have yet to issue a statement regarding the incident. In a separate incident today, the Taliban massacred a family member of a former military officer in Sar-e Pol. They killed four members of the family and kidnapped four others.

 

It should be noted that the Taliban have ramped up their arrests, torture, and killings of former military officers in recent months, with frequent reports of such incidents. This occurs despite the group’s elusive leader declaring a general amnesty after assuming power, an amnesty that his followers have routinely disregarded.
