RASC News Agency: Security officials of the Taliban in Ghazni province announced that an explosion caused by a leftover shell resulted in one fatality and left four others injured. Khalid Sarhadi, the spokesperson for the Taliban police command in Ghazni, told the media that the incident occurred early Monday, April 29, in the village of Dahan-e Kork in Qarabagh district, Ghazni.
According to the Taliban official, the incident led to the death of a 15-year-old adolescent and injured four other children. Sarhadi noted that the unexploded shell was a remnant from past conflicts and detonated when the children were playing with it. The injured individuals were taken to Qarabagh district hospital for treatment, according to the Taliban police command in Ghazni.
Explosions from leftover ordnance in several provinces, including Ghazni, have previously resulted in casualties, particularly among children, leaving many injured or disabled. In a separate incident nearly a month ago, an explosion from leftover landmines in Giroy district of Ghazni province led to the deaths of nine children.
