National Television Local Broadcast Building in Panjshir Converted into Military Base

RASC News Agency: Local sources from Panjshir province report that the building housing the transmitter and local broadcast facilities of National Television has been repurposed into a military base by the Taliban. Sources told the media on Sunday, April 28, that Taliban forces are currently stationed in the building and have relocated National Television’s technical equipment and other assets to its administrative office.

According to the sources, local broadcasts of National Television in Panjshir province have been discontinued since the Taliban assumed control nearly three years ago. The building of Khorasan Radio, a private radio station, has also been converted into a military base by the Taliban. The operational unit of the Taliban’s police command in Panjshir is now stationed in the radio station’s building.

Reports suggest that the Taliban have transformed other public facilities, including schools, into military centers in Panjshir and other provinces. Over more than two years of ruling the country, the Taliban have tightened restrictions on the work and activities of media and journalists, leading to the closure of some media outlets and leaving several journalists unemployed.
