RASC News Agency: Some employees of government offices under the Taliban’s control in the western provinces of Afghanistan confirm that senior officials of this group have not yet paid any salaries to them during the Eid days. One of the employees of Taliban-controlled offices in a western province of Afghanistan, speaking on condition of anonymity, informed RASC News Agency on Monday, Apr 7, that just one or two days before Eid al-Fitr, no attention had been paid to their salaries, preventing them from purchasing clothes and necessities for their families for the upcoming days, a significant celebration. He stated that if salaries were to be paid to government employees of the Taliban’s offices after Eid al-Fitr, it would not alleviate the suffering of the Taliban’s salaried individuals. The source added that only individuals who are Pashtuns and close to high-ranking Taliban officials have received salaries, enabling them to return home with full pockets.
Meanwhile, another government employee of the Taliban’s offices in Herat province informed RASC News Agency that during the past year, most government employees under the control of this group in Herat province were deprived of receiving salaries during Eid al-Fitr and Eid al-Adha and went home empty-handed. He added that although the period of the republic was characterized by widespread corruption and mismanagement, the rights and salaries of government employees were paid promptly, with no concerns. He also expressed that if the Taliban aims to appear Islamic, they should promptly pay all salaries of government employees, and Eid days should be well celebrated for them.
Moreover, Ramin, a resident of Herat province, shared with RASC that his father works as a teacher in one of the government schools in this province, but so far, no salary has been paid to him for Eid purchases. He added that the Taliban deal with different dimensions, and only their interests matter to them, while the rest of the people only have symbolic significance. He also mentioned that “To buy clothes and dried fruits, my father has asked several people to lend him money, but he hasn’t received any amount yet.” Ramin stated that all his and his family’s happiness was after spending the blessed month of Ramadan and preparing for the 30-day fast, which has now turned out differently for them.
However, Azad Tamuri, a civil activist in Herat province, informed RASC News Agency that all the actions of the Taliban have led to people’s dissatisfaction with their way of life and work. He continued that if the Taliban’s work and administrative system were based on principles and general regulations, the current situation would not affect the lives and conditions of all the people of Afghanistan. According to him, one reason why the Taliban have not yet achieved international recognition is due to the mistakes of their leaders and high-ranking officials by national and international factions.
The Taliban did not provide any comment on this issue. It is worth mentioning that some time ago, many employees of government hospitals in the western provinces of Afghanistan expressed dissatisfaction with the non-payment of their salaries by the Taliban to the media.
