RASC News Agency: Local sources from Badakhshan province report the suicide of an 18-year-old girl in the region. Sources have informed the media that the incident occurred this morning, Saturday, Apr 6, in the Bakhtar area, the first district of Fayzabad city, the center of this province.

According to the sources, the girl ended her life by consuming rat poison. The precise reason and motive for this suicide are not yet clear. Since the Taliban’s takeover of the country, violence against women and girls has increased unprecedentedly, leading to a rise in suicides among them.

In another incident, on the March 14th, a young girl named Gol Bibi in the village of Ghurawi, Qads district, Badghis province, committed suicide with a Kalashnikov rifle.

A local source informed the media that Gol Bibi had become pregnant during her engagement with her Fiance and took her own life due to pressures from her family and the prevailing culture in her community.

Furthermore, earlier, CNN reported, citing doctors in Afghanistan, that suicide rates among women and girls have significantly increased after the Taliban seized control of the country.
