RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Migrants of the Taliban group has announced that 2,255 Afghanistani refugees were returned to Afghanistan from Iran, both voluntarily and forcibly, in a single day. On Saturday, Apr 6, the ministry, in a bulletin concerning the repatriation of over two thousand Afghanistani refugees from Iran, reported that 463 individuals have been referred to the office of the International Organization for Migration for assistance.
This development coincides with Afghanistanis comprising the largest refugee population in Iran, where, akin to Pakistan and Turkey, the country has escalated the expulsion of refugees in recent months. These refugees fled Iran due to the Taliban’s control over the country, apprehensive of reprisals from the group and confronting dire economic circumstances.
Recently, the governors of Tehran, Fars, and Kermanshah provinces announced that the expulsion of Afghanistani refugees will persist vigorously until the last individual in the new year. As per Iran’s Ministry of Interior plan, any Iranian employer providing aid or collaboration to undocumented refugees will face legal consequences.
These refugees are being deported from neighboring countries, particularly Iran and Pakistan, where over half of the populace currently resides below the poverty line. Meanwhile, the Taliban group continues to apprehend former soldiers returning from Iran and relocates them to undisclosed locations.
