The governor intervened in an effort to mediate, proposing a division of the contested land between the Chamkani and Moqbel tribes. However, discontent arose within the Moqbel tribe, sparking a conflict. During the altercation, Taliban members opened fire on civilians, resulting in the injuries.
A Chakmani Hospital doctor indicates that several of the wounded individuals are in critical condition. Witnesses recount that approximately 40 members of the Moqbel tribe were arrested by the Taliban group after the shootings. Sources disclose that the Moqbel tribe, in collaboration with local officials, accused the Taliban of accepting bribes and using force to settle the land dispute.
Criticism has emerged from residents of the Chamkani district directed at the local Taliban group for taking sides in ethnic and legal conflicts driven by personal interests. The community asserts that tribal and legal disputes should be resolved transparently through negotiations and Islamic principles, free from personal and partisan motivations. Despite the Taliban’s historical violent actions against Afghanistani citizens, including fatal shootings, both the local group and the Chamkani tribe have maintained silence regarding this incident.
