RASC News Agency: According to reports from Turkish media, the police detained 38 Afghanistani refugees in the city of Balıkesir, while 21 Afghanistani and Pakistani refugees were detained in the city of Edirne. Turkish media outlets reported on Sunday, Mar 24, that these refugees lacked residence permits in Turkey.

Reports indicate that Turkish police detained a group of these refugees, including Afghanistani and Pakistani citizens, during an inspection stop in the “Lale Pasha” area, and some Afghanistani refugees were detained while attempting to exit Turkey illegally in a cargo van. It is reported that the detainees have been handed over to migrant detention centers, and security forces have detained one individual on charges of human trafficking in this operation.

According to the reports, in the operation in Balıkesir, an unlicensed weapon, a magazine, eight bullets, 38,000 liras, and one hundred dollars were seized by the Turkish police. In recent months, the detention and border rejection of refugees by Turkish police have increased, and recently, the Minister of Interior of this country announced the establishment of posts and mobile patrols in 30 cities in Turkey to identify illegal migrants.
