RASC News Agency: Local sources from Badghis province report that a young girl recently took her own life in the region, ending her life tragically. Sources informed the media on Friday, Mar 15, that the incident took place yesterday in Ghuroi village, located in the Qades district of the province.

According to these sources, the girl, identified as Gol Bibi, was 16 years old at the time of her death, which she caused using a Kalashnikov rifle. Quoting a local source, it was revealed that Gol Bibi’s suicide was prompted by her pregnancy from her Fiancee during their engagement, along with familial pressures and the prevailing cultural norms in her area. The Taliban group in Badghis province has yet to issue any statement regarding this event.

This incident underscores the sensitivity surrounding engagements in some rural parts of the country, where even the mere meeting of an engaged couple can escalate into violence. In a separate incident on Sunday, Feb 18, a 25-year-old man in the Masoomabad area of Zaranj city, the capital of Nimroz province, was fatally shot while meeting with his fiancee.
