OCHA Announces Swiss Aid Exceeding One Million Dollars to Afghanistan

RASC News Agency: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has announced that Switzerland has contributed $1.7 million to the people of Afghanistan under Taliban rule. OCHA made this announcement on Tuesday, Mar 12, on its social media platform X, stating that the funds have been delivered to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund.

According to OCHA, Switzerland has provided $19.7 million to the Afghanistan Humanitarian Fund since 2016. Meanwhile, the level of assistance from relief agencies has significantly decreased following the Taliban’s control of the country due to restrictions imposed by the group on the operations of these agencies and budget cuts.

The Taliban’s prohibition on women’s employment with humanitarian organizations has exacerbated the crisis by creating additional barriers to fair aid distribution and depriving women and their families of livelihoods.
