RASC News Agency: Local sources from Takhar province report that a miner named Abdul Nazar lost his life due to the collapse of a gold mine tunnel in the Khwaja Ghar district of this province. Sources informed the media on Thursday, Mar 7, that this incident occurred yesterday in the Silabah village of the Khwaja Ghar district of this province.

According to sources, Abdul Nazar was a resident of Alti Khwaja village in the Dasht-e-Qala district of Takhar province, and local residents’ efforts to extract his body from the rubble have so far been unsuccessful. Local residents criticize the indifference of Taliban officials in Takhar province to extract the body of this miner from the rubble.

This comes as previous mine collapses and explosions in these mines in some provinces have claimed the lives of several miners or injured them. In the latest incident, as a result of an explosion in a mine in the Dar-e-Suf district of Samangan province, two miners lost their lives.

Unregulated mining practices in Afghanistan under the Taliban’s control and lack of expertise in this field are among the factors that lead to such incidents and occasionally claim victims.
