RASC: By following of growing concerns about the threat of terrorism in Afghanistan, the British government has warned its citizens to avoid traveling to Afghanistan.
On Thursday, June 22, the British Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) has published an advisory letter regarding the travel of its citizens to Afghanistan.
The increase in the risk of global terrorism for British citizens is said to be one of the reasons for imposing travel restrictions on citizens of this country.
In this advisory letter of the British government to its citizens, it is stated: “The security situation in Afghanistan is extremely unstable. There is a risk of terrorist attacks around the airport, in and around religious places and during holidays. “Traveling across the country is very dangerous and border crossings may not be open.”
Britain has confirmed in this recommendation letter that currently no consular official of this country is present in Afghanistan and this has greatly limited the scope for providing assistance in this matter.
The Office of Foreign Affairs, Commonwealth and Development of this country has warned that the risk of arrest of British citizens has increased and it is possible that the British government will not be informed about these arrests.
At the same time, Britain has given this warning regarding the travel of its citizens to Afghanistan due to the increase in threats of terrorism, and these claims and threats have always been denied by the Taliban group.
Meanwhile, Miles Rutledge, Kevin Cornwell and another British citizen, who owned a hotel in Kabul city, were arrested by Taliban intelligence in early January of this year, which raised concerns about the arrest and imprisonment of foreign citizens by Taliban.
After that, British Home Secretary Suella Braverman, speaking to Sky News on Sunday, March 20, said that efforts have been made to free these British citizens, but until now, several months have passed, the fate of these people is unknown. There is no information available.
The last time Britain warned its citizens about traveling to Afghanistan was in May this year.
