RASC News Agency: The Southern Morning China newspaper has recently published a report indicating that “Islamic extremism and terrorism” are resurging in Afghanistan under the dominion of the Taliban group. According to the newspaper’s report released on Sunday, Feb 25, if the Taliban seek legitimacy and recognition, they must eradicate “Al-Qaeda.”

The report highlights that terrorists in Afghanistan are once again “flourishing” under the Taliban’s rule. According to the report, the Taliban have connections with smaller groups like the Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Tehreek-e-Jihad-e-Islami Pakistan (TJIP), leading to terrorist attacks in that country. Furthermore, citing a recent report from the United Nations Security Council, the Southern Morning China newspaper describes the Afghanistani Taliban as “sympathetic” towards the Pakistani Taliban and adds that the Taliban send humanitarian aid packages and military equipment to that group.

This comes as, according to a report by the United Nations Security Council’s Analytical Support and Sanctions Monitoring Team released a few days ago, the Taliban continue to maintain close ties with Al-Qaeda and have established eight new training camps in Afghanistan. The report mentions that four Al-Qaeda camps are located in the provinces of Parwan, Ghazni, Logar, and Oruzgan, and this network has set up an arsenal in Panjshir province. However, the Taliban have consistently denied the allegations.
