RASC News Agency: The Afghanistan Freedom Front recently declared that the Taliban’s endeavor “to institutionalize discrimination and ethnic bias is fundamentally hostility towards all ethnicities and speakers of the country’s common languages.” The Freedom Front raised this issue on Feb 21, through a statement in three languages: Persian, Pashto, and Uzbek, commemorating International Mother Language Day on the social media platform X.

In its statement, the Freedom Front asserted that all languages, cultures, beliefs, and social norms of the Afghan people hold a “special, equal, and valuable” status, and access to education in the mother tongue for all citizens is considered “an inviolable principle.” According to the Freedom Front’s statement, the relentless struggle to overthrow the Taliban’s anti-cultural emirate remains a top priority for the Freedom Front.

Meanwhile, Taliban officials from the Ministry of Information and Culture also celebrated this day to strengthen “ethnic solidarity.” The minister of this Taliban ministry stated that the group aims for “the country’s languages to develop in a manner that promotes ethnic unity.” These statements arise as the Taliban imposes significant restrictions on the use of the Persian language in assemblies, official documents, billboards, and government media.

It’s noteworthy that every year, on February 21st, International Mother Language Day is commemorated worldwide.
