RASC News Agency: Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry responded to Sher Mohammad Abbas Stanikzai, the Taliban’s Foreign Ministry appointee, regarding his remarks about the non-recognition of the Afghanistan-Pakistan border, asserting that these statements are “self-serving and baseless.” In a statement issued by Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry on Friday, Feb 16, it urged the Taliban to address Pakistan’s security concerns instead of delving into this issue.
The Foreign Ministry of Pakistan emphasized: “Any self-serving and baseless claims regarding the legality and sanctity of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border cannot alter the geographical, historical, and international legal realities.” Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry addressed the remarks made by the Taliban’s Deputy Foreign Minister, advising the group to confront Pakistan’s genuine security concerns instead of making “unpleasant statements that divert public attention.” The statement reaffirmed Pakistan’s dedication to facilitating regulated movement of people and commercial goods across the border based on intergovernmental criteria.
These statements emerge as Stanikzai, during an event commemorating the anniversary of the former Soviet Army’s withdrawal from Afghanistan in Logar, asserted that due to internal disagreements, England has partitioned half of Afghanistan by drawing the “imaginary Durand Line.” He emphasized that Pakistan currently unjustly expels Afghanistani migrants and stated, “Throughout our lives, we have not recognized and do not recognize the Durand Line.”
