RASC News Agency: The United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) has recently announced that $367 million is required for health assistance for the people of Afghanistan in the current calendar year. OCHA disseminated this information to the media on Thursday, Feb 15, through its official channels. According to OCHA, 17.9 million individuals in Afghanistan will require health services in the current calendar year.
Concurrently, OCHA underscores that this financial allocation is designated to enhance access to healthcare services, strengthen preparedness and response to disease outbreaks, improve mental health, provide psychosocial support services, and manage severe acute malnutrition.
This occurs at a time when the healthcare and medical sector in Afghanistan confronts numerous challenges, particularly the absence of adequate health centers in remote areas, following the Taliban’s takeover.
It is noteworthy that since the Taliban assumed power in Afghanistan, the level of international assistance, especially in the healthcare sector, has diminished—a matter of significant concern for the citizens of the country.
