RASC News Agency: Local sources from Daykundi province report that members of the Taliban group have recently detained two former police officers from this province named Reza Mojahedzadeh and Reza Hekmatyar in Maidan Wardak province. Sources stated to the media on Saturday, Feb 10, that Reza Mojahedzadeh served as the police commander of Patu district, and Reza Hekmatyar acted as the acting police chief in the city district of Daykundi province.
According to sources, the Taliban group took Reza Mojahedzadeh from Maidanshahr, the center of Maidan Wardak province, on Friday of last week, and Reza Hekimatyar was detained a few days ago near Jalriz market in this province by members of this group. Sources add that after the Taliban gained control of the country, Reza Mojahedzadeh worked with this group in Miramor district of Daykundi province at the request of local Taliban members, and the Taliban dismissed him from work after a while.
According to sources, Mr. Mojahedzadeh was driving through Daykundi and Kabul after being dismissed by the Taliban. According to local sources, Reza Hekmatyar had been working as the acting police chief in the city district of Daykundi province for some time and worked as a criminal commander in this district before the collapse of the former government. He turned to personal business after the Taliban’s takeover. Reza Mojahedzadeh and Reza Hekmatyar are both residents of Miramor district in Daykundi province. The Taliban group has not yet commented on this matter.
While the detention of former soldiers by the Taliban is not a new issue, and although the leader of this group has declared general amnesty, over the past two years, the Taliban have detained, tortured, and in some cases killed hundreds of former soldiers and government employees.
