RASC News Agency: The Taliban Ministry of Mines and Petroleum, citing the head of the Chinese company Afchin, has announced plans to establish oil reserves with a capacity of six thousand tons, construct oil refineries, and drill 22 new wells in the Amu Darya region by 2024. According to a statement released by the Taliban Ministry of Mines on Sunday, January 28th, on the social media platform X, the head of the Chinese company Afchin met with Shahabuddin Delawar, the Taliban Minister of Mines and Petroleum.

In the Taliban ministry’s message, the head of Afchin stated that constructing an oil refinery, repairing two inactive wells, and drilling 22 new wells are part of the company’s agenda for 2024, covering an area of 1300 square kilometers. According to the Chinese company, implementing these programs and directives will increase daily oil extraction by up to two thousand tons. The Taliban group claims that drilling new wells will generate nearly $500 million in annual revenue.

It is worth noting that the Chinese company Afchin currently owns an oil reserve with a capacity of four thousand tons and intends to construct new oil reserves with a capacity of six thousand tons in the Qashqari area and other locations. The Taliban group commenced practical oil extraction operations in the Amu Darya region in April of last year. While China has not officially recognized the Taliban, it maintains close relations with the group.
