Taliban: Implementation of Islamic laws in dealing with women is confirmed

RASC News Agency: Following the revelation of reports detailing the Taliban’s detainment of Afghanistani girls and women for non-compliance with the group’s dress code, Mohammad Faqir Mohammadi, the deputy minister of the Taliban’s Ministry of propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, recently affirmed that women will be treated in accordance with Islamic laws. As reported by Tolo News on Tuesday, January 23, quoting Mohammadi, he explained that female combatants from the Taliban’s Ministry of Interior have apprehended these women due to their failure to adhere to the prescribed dress code.

Contrary to the assertions of the Taliban official, footage circulating on social media exposes male members of the group detaining and relocating women to relevant areas in Kabul. Previously, the Taliban’s detainment of women in Kabul on charges of immodesty faced strong opposition from the Ministry of Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice. In recent days, several young women and girls in Kabul and other provinces have been detained by the Taliban’s security forces on charges of violating the group’s dress code and subsequently transferred to institutions affiliated with the Taliban.

The Taliban’s actions against women have elicited widespread domestic and international reactions. Formerly, the Minister of Justice of the previous government commented on the Taliban’s actions, asserting that the Taliban represent the most disrespectful individuals of our time, committing crimes while exploiting religion as a tool.
