RASC News Agency: Local sources in Nangarhar province have disclosed that the Taliban group issued a directive to all university professors, mandating daily engagement in new religious lessons. This revelation surfaced through media outlets on Monday, January 8th. The Taliban’s Directorate of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, in collaboration with the Directorate of Hajj and Religious Affairs, administered a religious examination for the heads of faculties at Nangarhar University to assess their opinions and beliefs.

Approximately a month ago, Taliban representatives visited Nangarhar University to scrutinize the professors’ perspectives. Their inquiries delved into the professors’ educational backgrounds and covered topics such as prayer, funeral rites, and hadiths. Notably, the examination for faculty heads was conducted by a young man solely adorned with a beard and turban, prompting concerns among professors regarding his qualifications and lack of formal education.

Moreover, officials from the Taliban’s Propagation of Virtue and Prevention of Vice, alongside personnel from the Directorate of Hajj and Religious Affairs, individually interviewed each professor post-examination. They sought information about professors perceived as lacking religious knowledge and being considered secular. Despite the Taliban’s oppressive measures against educational institutions and university professors, it is noteworthy that numerous esteemed professors have already departed the country, seeking refuge in neighboring nations.
