RASC News Agency: Reports from Ghazni confirm that the Taliban have once again detained several girls in the province. According to sources, on January 4th, the girls were arrested in Jaghori district and subsequently taken to an undisclosed location. The Taliban’s Department of Propagation of Virtue and the Prevention of Vice detained these girls due to their failure to adhere to the group’s hijab requirements. Disturbingly, the sources also reveal that the Taliban resorted to violence during the arrests, subjecting the girls to physical abuse and confiscating their belongings.

In a separate incident, the Taliban recently apprehended a group of girls from Kabul’s Dasht-e-Barchi area and transported them to an unknown destination. The families of these girls have been instructed by the Taliban to rally for their release, on the condition that they conform to the group’s hijab standards. It is important to highlight that over the past two years, the Taliban has consistently targeted and mistreated women and girls in Afghanistan, resorting to arrests, imprisonment, torture, and even murder.

The ongoing actions of the Taliban against girls and women in Afghanistan are deeply concerning. The arbitrary arrests, violence, and imposition of strict dress codes are clear violations of human rights and demonstrate the group’s oppressive nature. The international community must condemn these actions and work towards ensuring the safety and freedom of Afghanistani women and girls. It is crucial to support initiatives that promote gender equality, education, and empowerment, as these are fundamental rights that should be upheld for all individuals, regardless of their gender.
