RASC News Agency: Abdul Salam Hanafi, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Taliban group, recently addressed the concerns raised by Americans regarding the potential bloodshed upon the Taliban’s ascent to power in Afghanistan. Hanafi clarified that the Taliban group does not harbor intentions of vengeance against its political adversaries and urged neighboring countries not to desire the destruction of Afghanistan and its people.
Speaking during the commemoration of the 44th anniversary of the Soviet Union’s invasion of Afghanistan in Kabul on December 27th, Hanafi, the administrative deputy of the prime minister of the Taliban group, made these assertions. He underscored that the Taliban leader has pardoned all those with political opposition, considering them as brothers.
Hanafi further emphasized that individuals with a history of political opposition to the Taliban possess the same rights as other Afghanistani citizens, and the group will refrain from seeking retribution against them. Nevertheless, it is crucial to note that despite the Taliban’s proclamations of general amnesty and forgiveness, human rights organizations in Afghanistan have reported killings of soldiers and civilians by the Taliban in various provinces of the country since assuming power. Abdul Salam Hanafi also highlighted that December 27th marked the commencement of a tragic period in Afghanistan’s history, resulting in approximately 1.5 million lives lost following the Soviet Union’s invasion.
It is noteworthy that the Taliban group talks about a general amnesty and forgiveness for its political opponents in Afghanistan; however, since the group took control of the country, numerous military personnel and civilians have fallen victim to violence perpetrated by the group in various provinces. This issue has been extensively documented in reports by human rights organizations in Afghanistan.
