RASC News Agency: In recent developments, the Taliban group in Badakhshan province has once again engaged in violent actions against Afghanistani citizens. This time, the officials in the group’s court imposed corporal punishment on two individuals accused of escaping from their homes. The Supreme Court of the Taliban group announced this verdict on December 27th through the X social media platform, specifying that the punishment occurred in the Khash district of Badakhshan province. The court claimed that the punishment was executed in the presence of various authorities, including government officials, scholars, and the general public.

Despite the court sentencing these individuals to imprisonment, no further details regarding their punishment have been disclosed. It is noteworthy that similar punishments have been levied on numerous individuals in various provinces for offenses such as moral corruption, extramarital relations, alcohol consumption, and theft. Despite the Taliban group leader’s directive not to mete out punishment without a court order, the group has frequently resorted to unlawful courts, sidestepping proper legal procedures.

These actions by the Taliban group have triggered widespread condemnation from human rights organizations, urging an immediate cessation of such practices. It is disconcerting that, despite acknowledging the moral corruption and criminal offenses committed by its members, the group often releases them without facing trial. The international community must persist in exerting pressure on the Taliban group to uphold human rights and adhere to proper legal procedures.
