RASC News Agency: The Danish Refugee Council (DRC) has initiated a project to construct residential dwellings for 76 households impacted by floods in Maidan Wardak province. According to the announcement on December 27th by Taliban group officials, the houses are situated in the Jalriz district of the province. DRC representatives disclosed that each housing unit comprises two to three rooms, a kitchen, and a bathroom, with construction costs ranging from $1475 to $1950 per unit. The construction endeavor is anticipated to conclude within six months, delivering much-needed relief to the flood-stricken victims.

Nevertheless, residents in Jalriz district, beyond seeking housing aid, are urging relief organizations to establish a new school and health center in their locality. The flood has inflicted considerable damage on the existing educational and healthcare facilities, depriving residents of essential services. Despite the recurrent floods in various provinces of the country, authorities have yet to adequately address the issue, resulting in financial and personal losses for citizens. It is pivotal for the Taliban group and pertinent organizations to prioritize the provision of suitable living facilities and infrastructure for those affected by natural disasters.

The provision of affordable housing with essential amenities will alleviate the plight of the affected families. However, addressing the broader needs of the community, including education and healthcare, is equally imperative. Flood victims in Jalriz district emphasize the urgent necessity for a new school and health center, given the severe damage to existing facilities.

Relief organizations and authorities must promptly respond to these demands, ensuring that affected residents gain access to essential services. Additionally, implementing long-term strategies to mitigate the impact of natural disasters and providing sustainable solutions for affected communities is crucial.
