The General Amnesty of the Taliban Group is a False Promise, Says Noor

RASC News Agency: Atta Mohammad Noor, a member of the National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan, contends that the concept of granting a general amnesty to the Taliban is misleading, given their ongoing involvement in multifaceted acts of political, ethnic, and religious cleansing. Mr. Noor conveyed this perspective through the X social media platform, underscoring that since assuming control of Afghanistan, the Taliban has consistently posed threats, instilled fear, inflicted torture, and carried out killings against various segments of the Afghanistani population.

According to Mr. Noor, the Taliban not only eradicates women’s presence from all spheres of society and enforces gender and ethnic discrimination but also displays hostility towards civilization, language, and native identity. Moreover, they have dismantled the governance system, actively fostered extremism, and executed intricate political purges, all while maintaining strong ethnic, regional, and religious affiliations. As a member of the National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan, Mr. Noor emphasized that women advocating for their rights over the past two and a half years have faced suppression, imprisonment, torture, and, in some cases, even death at the hands of the Taliban.

Highlighting the dire consequences of the Taliban’s general amnesty, Mr. Noor pointed out that numerous former security forces, believing in the group’s false promises, have experienced arrest, imprisonment, and even death due to the Taliban’s brutal torture methods. He underscored that the UN’s Special Rapporteur, Richard Bennett, has documented these inhumane actions by the Taliban, further noting that the Taliban’s atrocities extend beyond official reports. Particularly in Balkh province, the number of civilians tortured and killed by the Taliban surpasses the figures mentioned in the recent United Nations report.

As a member of the National Resistance Council for the Salvation of Afghanistan, Mr. Noor asserted that ten former police commanders and civilians in Balkh province fell victim to the Taliban’s violence. These statements were made amidst reports that the Taliban, despite proclaiming a general amnesty, have engaged in targeted and vengeful killings of soldiers from the previous government following their takeover of the country.
