RASC News Agency: The Ministry of Refugees and Repatriation of the Taliban group recently issued an announcement regarding the repatriation of Afghanistani immigrants from Iran. This move follows the expulsion of Afghanistani immigrants from neighboring countries like Pakistan. According to the Ministry’s social media message, 1,751 Afghanistani immigrants residing in Iran have undergone deportation and repatriation to their home country.
The Taliban group’s Ministry revealed that the repatriated migrants re-entered Afghanistan via the Islam Qala border in Herat province, a development that transpired on Wednesday, December 20th. Among the 1,751 deported Afghanistani refugees, it was noted that 425 were identified as requiring assistance. These individuals were officially registered with the Migration Department and subsequently referred to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees and the International Organization for Migration.
Despite the increasing rate of forced deportations of Afghanistani refugees from multiple countries, including Iran and Pakistan, Afghanistan’s capacity to absorb these repatriated immigrants poses a significant challenge. The Taliban group has acknowledged this predicament and has appealed to both the public and international institutions for support in assisting these individuals. It is crucial to recognize that the migration of Afghanistani citizens to neighboring countries and the region has been propelled by the restrictions imposed by the Taliban on social life, along with conflicts between the group and the forces of the previous government.
