RASC News Agency: In the wake of the persistent wave of mysterious and targeted killings, according to local sources in Ghor province, unidentified armed assailants shot a man in the region, resulting in the death of his 10-year-old son. Sources from Ghor province briefed the media on Saturday, December 16th, disclosing that this incident transpired last Thursday night in the “Reza” area, situated in the city of Ferozkoh, the central hub of this province.
As per these sources, the man identified as “Nazar” was outdoors with his son, engaged in the task of “sprinkling feed for the sheep” when armed individuals, clad in Taliban attire, indiscriminately opened fire. Consequently, his son lost his life. Additional information from sources suggests that the armed individuals had aimed to assassinate “Nazar,” but, his son became the unintended target and lost his life. To date, the Taliban group has not issued any comments on this distressing incident.
This occurrence unfolds during a period when the frequency of mysterious and targeted killings has seen a notable surge in various provinces, including Ghur. In the most recent incident, unidentified armed individuals perpetrated the murder of a currency exchanger in Faryab province. In response to these incidents, local residents assert that Taliban members themselves are implicated in such events, actively participating in acts of homicide. The absence of a proper institution to address complaints and handle such cases exacerbates the gravity of the situation.
Contrary to the Taliban group’s claims of establishing overall security after assuming control of the country, recent reports indicate a rising tide of criminal activities, notably mysterious and targeted killings.
